So how does the Garden Design process work?

First Contact

Give me a call or send me an email, maybe meet me in person at a show. I will arrange a convenient time to come and meet you, have a look at your garden and discuss your requirements.

Initial Consultation

At this first meeting I will come and look at your garden and give you an idea of what I will charge for the services you require. This could vary from £200 for a small, uncomplicated site to £1000 for a larger garden on different levels. If additional services are required such as planting plans or project management this will also be quoted for.

Client Brief

This is a detailed questionnaire that helps me to get a clear idea of what you want from your garden, your preferences, likes and dislikes and also something of your personality. The discussion usually lasts for about an hour and is crucial for me to design your garden around your own individual needs.

Second Contact

I will send written confirmation, either by post or email, of my price as well as the payment schedule. I usually ask for a deposit up-front and then a payment at draft design stage followed by a final payment upon receipt of finished drawings.

The Exciting Part!

Once we are all happy with terms I return to the garden (usually with my husband who is a whizz with a dumpy-level) to complete a site survey. This will include all the measurements and levels required. I take these measurements and produce a scale drawing of your garden which I then use to produce a draft design based on all the information you have given me. We will have another meeting where I present these ideas and we can make any changes you may require.

Final Contact?

Once we have come up with a design that you are happy (or even ecstatic!) with I take it away and draw it to a level of detail where it can be handed to your chosen Landscaper to build. This will include key planting and all the technical detailing that will be required. I am always happy to meet with the Landscaper to talk through any questions. Further services may be required after this and I will also be as excited as you to see the finished garden.
